Why Kubo exists

It started with one
surgeon’s paperwork.

Brian is a practicing surgeon. For years, his day did not end when the last patient left. There were still operative reports to finish, referral letters owed to general dentists, patients to call, and consents to chase.

Ryan is an engineer. He saw how much of a surgeon’s week went to typing and thought software could handle it: something that could listen to a consult and produce the documents the visit requires.

We built it for surgical dentistry practices. Kubo knows what belongs in an operative report, which letter the referring dentist is waiting on, and where each document goes in the practice management system the office already uses.

    Specialty focused

    Most AI scribes are built for every kind of clinician, so the same tool serves a therapist, a veterinarian, and an oral surgeon. Spread that thin, the surgical details never quite land. We build only for surgical dentistry.

  2. 02

    The clinician signs off

    Kubo drafts and the clinician approves. Nothing goes into a patient’s chart without review, and that review step cannot be turned off.

  3. 03

    Work with the existing PMS

    Practices keep their current practice management system. Kubo works alongside it and writes its output back into it, so there is no chart migration and no new system for the team to learn.

  4. 04

    Privacy comes first

    We do not use PHI as training data. The safeguards described on our security page were built into the product from the start.

Ryan is a founder and engineer who has spent his career building and scaling software products. Before Kubo, he built iOS apps with 15M+ downloads and Top 3 App Store rankings, co-founded a mobile games company that grew to 100K+ daily users and was acquired, and helped build products serving millions of monthly users. Today, he leads product and engineering at Kubo, building AI software that helps oral surgery and periodontal practices run more efficiently.

Dr. Brian Young is a practicing oral surgeon with 20+ years of experience and more than 15,000 implants placed. A national lecturer and expert in complex implant surgery, he brings the clinical perspective behind Kubo. He sets the standard for how surgical documentation should work and validates that every feature holds up in real practice before it ships.
